Dr. Neda Black

Dr. Neda Black, MD, FAAD is a highly-regarded and well-trained double board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained dermatopathologist, focusing on medical and cosmetic dermatology. Having practiced in the Pasadena area for nearly a decade, she is a renowned dermatologist and a beloved member of the community, and has been selected to Pasadena Magazine’s Top Doctors, Los Angeles Magazine’s Top Doctors, and Best of the Best Top Doctors several years in a row.
After graduating with High Honors from the University of California Berkeley with degrees in both molecular & cell biology and public health, Dr. Black earned her medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. Here, she was elected valedictorian for achieving the highest academic achievements of her medical school class. She received numerous other accolades and awards, including Highest Distinction, the American Medical Women’s Association Academic Achievement Award, the American Medical Association Clinical Award, and the American Medical Association Research Award. She was also inducted into the prestigious national medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha.
Dr. Black subsequently trained in dermatology at the University of Southern California, where she served as Chief Resident. Here she received extensive training in medical, surgical, cosmetic, and pediatric dermatology. She went on to complete a prestigious fellowship in dermatopathology under the direction of Loren Golitz, MD at the University of Colorado Denver. This extra training has allowed her to develop special expertise in the microscopic diagnosis of skin cancer and skin disease.
Dr. Black has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in journals such as the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and JAMA Dermatology. Her research generally focuses on skin cancer prevention and melanoma detection, and it has been frequently cited in the popular press such as NPR, BBC News, Forbes, Huffington Post, and Medscape. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a fellow of the American Society of Dermatopathology. She is also on medical staff at Huntington Hospital.
Dr. Black feels privileged to have the opportunity to care for her patients. As a dermatologist, she loves being able to educate her patients about their skin and help them look and feel their best. In her free time, Dr. Black enjoys an active lifestyle and spending time with her husband and two sons.
